City of Sadness

Music created by the duo Iza Robakowska and Joanna Szumacher was a mix of poetic texts, monotonous melancholy and sharp noises. The fusion of psychedelic electronics and depressing texts constituted the perfect musical background in the dark basement, and the visualisations that accompanied the performance boosted the feeling of anxiety and ordinary sadness that overcomes the human body and mind in abandoned buildings. Sad Women make music that encapsulates existential pain as well as mental and physical pain that is connected with illness. What is more, their performance art is in a permanent inflammatory state – susceptible to the vibrations of vocal cords, which results in an atmosphere of uncertainty.
