The cylindrical openwork construction under the title ‘Fi‘ referred formally to the architecture of the bunker. The steel-bar model outlined the proportions of the original building and presented the true nature of its architecture, i.e. the construction itself, devoid of outer layers in order to emphasise the steel skeleton and the reinforcement. In accordance with the authors’ intention, it was the image of the destroyed building, an entangled heap of steel and concrete, that made us aware of the falsity of our belief in its indestructibility. The labyrinthine architecture of the interior became the stage for the intricate model. Its aesthetics highlighted the beauty of the building in its construction phase, when the inner purity and logic of the fully visible floors and columns showed clearly. Placing the object on a dummy concrete plinth made it look like a museum exhibit. It also turned the work, together with Michał Smandek’s nearby installation, into a landmark in the topography of the whole exhibition.
